About Homer (west)

Hi, my name is HOMER - ID#A4516675 I am a neutered male, tan and white American Pit Bull Terrier mix. The shelter staff think I am about 3 years old, and I have been at the shelter since Dec 24, 2020. Have you met my homie Homer?? This little man is handsome, silly, sweet and strong. I am not embarrassed to admit he pulled me around like a toy lol. In the yard he was attentive, sat when asked, took treats politely, demonstrated he can SOMETIMES catch and even knows shake! Check out the slo mo video of his catching skills! Homer would like to be the only apple of your eye and a home with kids over 12 who can keep up with his shenanigans. Here are the last notes by volunteers about Homer: 1/22/2021 WALK Excited tail wags on kennel pull (from back). Strong pull on exit from wing- pulled toward barking dogs in wing. Took to play yard first- energetic initiated play- ran around yard, chased after ball, toys, stuffies. Very affectionate and sweet. Took treats gently. Allowed petting- crawled onto my lap for affection. Took for walk- kept a good pace- moderately pulled on leash. On return to shelter- pulled hard on leash in wing- but easy return. 1/27/2021 WALK Per volunteer - Pushed the door once and jumped up once when I went to pull. After a short wait, he stood on the bed and waited to be leashed. He pulled hard out of the kennel and immediately tried to fence fight with his neighbor, Bethesda. I used a very short leash and it took some effort to direct him away from the occupied kennels on exit and return. He pulls hard on leash so we went to a yard to hang out. He jumped on the bench, jumped up on me for attention and it took a few minutes for him to calm some. He sat for snacks and took somewhat politely. We worked on shake, which he may have known but it took a few tries to give him the idea what I was looking for, and did both paws eventually.
