About Smokey

No sooner had Smokey's paws crossed the threshold of his foster home than this 66- pound sweetheart trusted them and their children. The 1 �%BD year old former stray, so new to the feeling of safety, is submissive and calm indoors and highly energetic and active outdoors. He loves playing games of tug-o-war, running with other friendly dogs and going on car rides while gazing dreamily out of the window. Learning to navigate stairs and doing well on short walks, he knows 'sit', loves all food, and is motivated by attention and food - especially meat and cheese. What he does NOT love is being surprised or barked at by other dogs (based on his initial, now healed, injuries, he was clearly bitten by dogs) and he'll dive into his fosters' protective arms when scared by loud noises. Although he's crate and housetrained to use a doggy door, he dislikes being left alone for too long. Eager to make up for lost time, sweet natured Smokey is best suited to a nurturing home with adopters who will patiently bolster his self-esteem, educate him fully and ensure he's well loved and well exercised fur-ever.
