About Charlie

Field Spaniel / Newfoundland
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Charlie is a three and half year old Spaniel/Newfoundland mix that was adopted from us a few years ago when he was just a puppy. He was recently returned because the family dynamics changed when a new child arrived. Now three and half years old, this handsome hunk weighs sixty pounds. A large confident dog, Charlie is a good fit for an adult or family with older children. He is completely housetrained and will need a fenced in yard. His previous owner said Charlie can be stubborn at times but we have not observed this behavior. He has always been calm, well behaved and cooperative since returning to the shelter. His owner also warned Charlie has an affinity for chewing remotes; so just keep those up high from his reach. At the kennel, he only chews on appropriate toys and never anything else. Charlie is easy to leash and will walk right beside you out to the play yard. He doesn't bark at the other dogs in the kennels or while outside. Charlie seems more into watching the other dogs than engaging with them in play. He is perfectly content being the only dog in the home but would be a good match for another mature large dog. Cats are a mystery to him but we can test that for you. Loving and affectionate, he is quick to seek attention from volunteers and loves to be petted. He has a gorgeous fluffy black and white coat! On a recent trip to the dog spa, Charlie earned high praise. He was patient throughout the grooming and allowed them to clip his nails like a champ. He has an average amount of energy and doesn't require a lot of exercise. Charlie's a chill dude and enjoys hanging out at the house or taking a trip to the park. He rides great in a car and would enjoy going on walks with you. If you are looking for a loving companion, Charlie is a wonderful dog and would love to be your new best friend. .To adopt, please go to hsnwga.org, click 'Adoption', then 'Application for Adoption' to complete an online application to be preapproved.
