About Axel

Axel is a 2 yr MN Australian Shepherd. He is such a sweet boy, however he does have some behavioral issues. He is very timid and anxious around new people. However will become owner protective once he get comfortable. He is very treat motivated and loves to learn new tricks. He is not good with males, and children. He will do well with females. We are currently learning basket muzzle, so that I am able to socialize him properly and safely. I am looking for someone who has the time to properly train him both socially and behaviorally. He knows his basic commands: sit, stay, watch me, touch, down and leave it. He is potty trained and crate trained. He does take Trazadone and Gabapentin for high anxiety events like vet visits and when visitors visit. He is dog friendly. Besides his behavioral issues, he does make a wonderful therapy dog. He gives hugs when you're down and will lay down with you. He does great on leash walks and make a wonderful hiking partner. He does require a fenced in yard, or at least someone who will provide him good exercise. He makes a great running partner. He does have a bit history (my fault on my part). I've had him since he was a puppy and it breaks my heart to do this, but he deserves a better life than I'm able to give him.
