About Gus

Gus is a loyal and loving American Bulldog mix, who is fully trained and just loves his people. He does great with routines and is so smart - he gets the routines down quick and loves working through them for a little treat. He loves to walk and hike, but he also loves to sleep in the sunshine or on his bed. Gus is a big fan of wearing his backpack and having a job on hikes! He plays with toys, chews on bones and loves practicing his training. He also enjoys running and playing in creeks as well as swimming in pools, lakes and ponds. He is an absolutely joy to be around, and wants to make his people happy and pleased. I adopted Gus from a rescue in Virginia back in June of 2018 - at the time Gus had been adopted and returned once prior to my adoption of him due to growling and aggression. Since his adoption, Gus and I have worked with behavioral specialists and he has made significant progress, and we currently work with The Dogfather Behavioral Center here in Fort Collins. At the same time, he has bit three people in the 2.5 years - all due to fear and anxiety. Because of this and my life circumstances have shifted to where other dogs and kids are in the picture, I need to find him a new home. He is a sweet, loving and affectionate boy and would do well in another home with more structure, no children or plans for children and no other dogs. I have a cat, and they do well mainly because they keep their distance.
