About Abby

Abby is a precious Miniature Poodle. She weighs about 18 pounds. Abby's lovely mother died in November from our pandemic. Abby has diabetes. Therefore, the family turned her into the Veterinarian clinic where she had went her entire life. The clinic called me to rescue her. I have kept her 2 1/2 months first so she could adjust from the death of her human Momma. I already have a house full of special needs rescues. Abby needs a quieter environment where dogs are not running about. I did an insulin curve with the veterinarian. Her glucose began in 200s, spiked to 400s in afternoon and went back to 200s. Abby takes 7 units of insulin after breakfast and again after her dinner. Abby would do best with someone familiar with diabetes, or someone who has the means to afford to work with a veterinarian to learn how to manage diabetes. Her diabetes is not well managed, even though I have spent hundreds of dollars trying. Her Veterinarian retired. So, she is seeing a young veterinarian hired to replace him. She needs an experienced veterinarian which I cannot afford. Abby is a very sweet little dog. She loves affection. My other dogs jump on my lap during her time. Abby was house trained, but she drinks so much water that I have to keep pads down for her. She often cries for more food. I am not getting anywhere because I cannot afford the Veterinarian care she needs. She's a happy dog, so I don't want to humanely euthanize her.
