***NEEDS FUREVER HOME*** Currently in Boise Meet CHANCE! CHANCE was found at a truck stop outside of Declo, Idaho and brought to the Burley, Idaho Shelter. His owners never came for him. He is a 2 year old adorable, gorgeous, sweet dog who entered the boarding kennels a little bit afraid of his own shadow and loud noises. He loves other dogs. He is average energy for his breed, but loves to play. He may be timid with new people, but he is finding his confidence quickly. NOTES FROM A FOSTER FAMILY: We think that CHANCE was raised by someone who stuck him in a yard and made him stay in one spot when he was indoors. He was originally freaked out by TV, but now he enjoys watching. Over a week's time in a foster home, CHANCE got more assertive about what he wanted and did not act as fearful as he was originally. CHANCE has a fun personality. He has no problem telling you what he wants or needs now. He's also very smart, and I think he learned to get attention by getting in trouble. Like kids, even bad attention is better than no attention. So, when he chews up stuff, I ignore him, and when he doesn't, I shower him with attention. CHANCE learned to like riding in vehicles; It's his favorite thing to do. He no longer startles at loud noises on our walks, and, in fact, walks on the leash very gently and well. At visits to 3 dog-friendly stores,. he greeted lots of people and even saw 3 other dogs. No fear or reactivity observed. He enjoys his crate, but doesn't do well alone outside of his crate. He gets lonely and destructive even when you are not paying direct attention to him. He prefers the backyard to being inside. He is also likely to escape if left alone in the yard for very long. He can easily dig under most fences. If he had companion dogs, he would be more likely to stay in the yard, and he could also be less destructive, because he wouldn't be so lonely. After two weeks in a foster home, CHANCE became a normal Siberian Husky, showing his curiosity and boldness. He also started talking. He is out of his shell and testing boundaries. Nothing at all serious, and a healthy development. Little things like his getting too close to my food, which took two stern 'no' statements. He is much less afraid and is now ready to learn healthy boundaries, which he is actively exploring. CHANCE is just too sociable to do alone very well. He likes people and is sweet to everyone, but he just seems incomplete without canine family.
