About Toby

Toby is a treeing walker mix, we've had him for 2 years, he was never supposed to stay with us long term, now were moving soon and cannot take him with us. We do not want to bring him to a shelter. He can get along with other dogs but needs to be slowly introduced as he acts like a maniac upon first glance. With a muzzle and about 5 minutes to wear himself out, he calms down enough to socialize and realize that the other dog is not a threat. So unless your willing to train him for this, he needs to be in a single dog home. He will chase cats. He chases things. Hes a hound dog. He barks. Hes a hound dog. If you dont know about this breed please do not contact me. Let me make this clear, he is initially aggressive towards other dogs. I have introduced him to multiple dogs, and things have gone great after the initial meltdown. He has a muzzle for this reason. He pulls when he walks and he will steal food. Sometimes. He needs a fenced in yard. He will jump on small children but never to hurt them. I still strongly suggest you don't have small children with him. He gets excited. Now, hes a very LOVING animal. He wants nothing but cuddles and loving. And he will sit and stare at you for the rest of your life if you let him. Hes very smart and food oriented. He needs someone who knows hounds and especially treeing walkers.
