About Rockwell

Poodle / Chihuahua
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

**WE ONLY DO HOME VISITS FOR ADOPTIONS NEAR BROWARD & PALM BEACH COUNTIES** Say hello to baby Rockwell%A0ChiPoo His mom is a Chihuahua and his Dad is a Poodle. Roclwell is NOT Hypoallergenic. If you have allergies he is not for you. He is lively on walks but he can be reactive to other people and pets, so he needs an experienced adopter who can help him overcome his fears and keep up his exercise. You need to have good strength to control him on the walk, do not let his cute face make you think otherwise. When he doesn't encounter anyone on the walk he is quiet and well mannered. In the house, Rockwell is calm and cuddly.%A0 He prefers to be the center of attention and have all your devotion so he is best as an only dog.%A0 He can be jealous of other dogs once he attaches to you but that's because he has so much love to give!%A0 He does take time to accept new people and will bark or shy away the first day while he gets used to you BUT baby talk and snacks work to win him over. He is two and a half years old and 11 pounds with a wavy silky coat.%A0Rockwell%A0needs an adult home that will help him through his initial fear then you will find that he quickly becomes bonded to you and offers great companionship. He will bark at new people and dogs passing by so a high-rise or condo situation will NOT work until he is desensitized of the stimulation.%A0 He thinks he is going to be hurt so it may take a while for him to get over his fear of new people.%A0 He comes around to love within a day and he does NOT bite except at the vet when he is held down, that's why he would not be good with children.%A0Rockwell%A0needs more work on socialization with new people. %A0He is loving and cuddly once he trusts you but%A0Rockwell%A0will go through%A0an adjustment each time he meets new people until he feels comfortable. You will need to continue with calm, nonaggressive%A0training in order for him to have a peaceful%A0life. You need to establish boundaries with people new to%A0Rockwell%A0so that they give him the space to introduce himself when he is ready.%A0 He does make new friends quickly especially on leashed tranquility walks.%A0%A0Rockwell%A0is always following you around and waiting to be invited to sit with you for his belly rubs!%A0 He has awesome inside manners and is potty trained. He sits still to have his harness put on when it's time for a walk.%A0 He sleeps next to you or in a cozy dog bed and he loves to lay in the sun on the patio.%A0 The key to%A0Rockwell's heart is to allow him to feel safe by not rushing close introductions and allow him space to introduce himself.%A0 If you are looking for a little buddy that will stay close and adore you, please check%A0Rockwell!%A0RECAP: HE IS NOT HYPOALLERGENIC, NOT GOOD WITH CHILDREN NOR CATS, BETTER AS AN ONLY DOG, NEEDS AN EXPERIENCED PERSON TO SAFELY CONTROL HIM ON THE WALK, AND A COMPASSIONATE HOME. %A0Rockwell's adoption fee is $350 to go towards his%A0vetting%A0(vaccines, spay/neuter, heartworm/Ehrlichia/Lyme test, fecal test, pre-op blood work, dental cleaning, and microchip as well as grooming if needed). If you are interested please fill out the%A0adoption application%A0For additional information regarding our adoption process, please check our%A0FAQ's Page.%A0.%A0 %A0*All dogs in the care of Get a Life Pet Rescue live in loving foster homes while waiting for their perfect match.
