This 3-year old freckled wonder came to us after being surrendered as part of a hoarding situation. Huckleberry is deaf, adorable, and a sensitive boy (with the softest fur!). Being deaf doesn't slow him down at all. He's an A+ student who already knows several hand signals that he can demonstrate like a champ, and is eager to continue to train. He is great on leash and doesn't react to much of anything (even wild turkeys), so walks are a breeze and a half, especially if treats are involved. Like his name, Huck is adorable and playful! He loves looking at his own reflection, so mirrors or storefront windows will certainly slow him down as he stops to admire himself in all his handsomeness. And those ears! They sport the BEST freckles east of the Mississippi. Huckleberry also has the best dog breath we've ever smelled'|seriously! Good thing, cause snuggling is kind-of his thing. Huck knows how to romp and play with a childlike innocence, but can sometimes be nervous in new situations, so he will need a family that will help him continue to take things slow and build confidence. He has already made amazing strides and walks calmly down the sidewalks of bustling Boston near his foster home. It is a joy to see him building confidence day by day. This gentle and handsome fellow has tested well with dogs and cats, but we suspect he would prefer to be the only pet in the home, with some doggie friends for playdates. And because of his deafness, Huckleberry would do best in a family with older or no kids. He is a gentle soul, but young kids startling a deaf dog or accidentally letting him outside unleashed could have serious consequences. Huckleberry's family would also need to stay committed to continuing his training, which would be a joy since he is so eager to learn (and spend time with those he loves). A fenced yard would be ideal for his safety as well. Deaf dogs are absolute gems, but it will take a little extra preparation on the part of his adopter to understand his needs ahead of time. Huckleberry is a super affectionate boy, who will make his forever family very happy and we can't wait for him to find his happily ever after.
