About Floyd

Floyd is a young, handsome mixed breed (black-mouth cur? Carolina dog?) who's a big sweetheart of a dog. He's very much a goofy puppy still, but also trainable, agile, affectionate, and fun. He loves to play with his canine packmates, bound after a ball and go for walks on the beach - he's up for just about any activity. When he came to our rescue he was basically a bull in a china shop without many boundaries, but since then he's learning that jumping up on people and being mouthy won't get him the attention he loves. He's crate- and house-trained (uses a doggy door), is learning not to pull on walks and rides well in the car. He is active but loves to cuddle (wants to be a lap dog) and has an off switch. Floyd is quiet in the house except for when he gets rowdy playing with other pups and is friendly when meeting new people and dogs. Our best guess for age is about a year old. He's neutered, micro-chipped, up-to-date with vaccines, heartworm negative, and weighs about 60lbs. Floyd loves his humans, takes food gently from your hand and gets along well with others. He's not the type to be left alone for long periods but would thrive with another playful and mature packmate. Due to his size and exuberance, Floyd's ideal home will also have a fenced-in yard and if children older ones (6+) who aren't intimidated by a big bounding pup and can be kind but consistent trainers. He is untested with cats. Floyd will be a great match for an active, fun-loving person or family that can continue to guide and set boundaries for him and are looking for an affectionate, playful, comical, devoted companion. He's currently fostered in northeast Florida (Amelia Island) but transport can be arranged. His adoption fee is $350.
