About Murphy

Adoption Fee: $75
Fox Terrier mix
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

Foster location: Boise ID Breed: Fox Terrier Mix Age: 8(ish) years old Adoption Fee: $75.00 Neutered, Vaccinated, Microchipped If interested you MUST complete the Adoption Application: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ Murphy came to Fuzzy Pawz Rescue as a medical case after finding himself in a local shelter as a stray. Murphy was covered in lumps and bumps and some were pretty concerning looking. Fuzzy Pawz Rescue was able to get him medically evaluated and have his bumps removed and had a much-needed dental/tooth extraction. The good news is that all of his blood work came back great and he is a pretty healthy old man. The bad news is that some of his bumps did come back cancerous. The veterinarian and rescue are both hopeful that the cancer was removed during his surgery, but there is always a chance that re-growth could happen in the future and should be looked for. Murphy is incredibly sweet and affectionate and likes to be in constant physical contact with the people in his life. Murphy would do best in a home that would allow him lots of snuggle time, access to furniture that people are on and someone who won't mind a Fox Terrier shaped shadow trotting behind them at all times. Murphy is pretty relaxed and low energy and doesn't need energy management, but does enjoy playing with toys and running around. Playing a couple rounds of fetch while out to potty or bonding with his owner on a relaxing walk would be a great fit for him. Murphy has many breed traits that Fox Terriers are known for. First, he has the notable tooth chatter that Fox Terrier lovers know well. When he is excited, over stimulated or engaged in chase/play he will start his tooth chatter/ excitement chomps. Additionally, he has a fairly high prey drive that this breed is known and often bred for. Murphy should not be trusted with smaller animals as he has a high prey drive. This includes chickens, turkeys, ducks, squirrels, rabbits, birds and any other prey he thinks he can manage to catch. He should not be adopted to a home with cats. As you can see from his photos Murphy loves other dogs and if not snuggled with is human you can find him snuggled up to one of the other dogs in his foster. He would love to be adopted to a home with another easy going dog but Murphy has some resource guarding tendencies. If there is another dog in the home Murphy will need to be fed separately than other dogs, and does well eating in a crate. Murphy can get snippy with some toys but does not guard during active play. Being well managed is essential to set both Murphy, his new owners and any canine friends up for success. Murphy responds well to verbal correction and praise and can be verbally told to stop a behavior. Murphy has nothing but love and affection to give and would love to spend his years snuggling with his people. If you are interested in Murphy, please fill out an adoption application.
