This post is going out with a Hail Mary that one special angel will come forward to give Prince a chance to live *TO Be Euthanized 1/22/2021 in NYC ** FOSTER or ADOPTER needed BY NOON that day to SAVE Prince's life! *Staff Favorite* LONG STAY well mannered gentlemanly PRINCE knows commands and leans in for rubs once you earn his trust! Prince is always charming whoever he meets! Three months he has waited and he's the sweetest boy in the Kingdom! Affectionate, big hearted, family pet Prince still dreams of a castle of his own to call home. Are you worthy? (3 Prince is so darling that our hearts burst every time we see him. Though initially shy and timid with new people, once he gets to know you he is never without a happy smile on his face, a wagging tail, or pleading eyes that say 'please won't you give me a cuddle?' He just wants to be near you, by your side getting pets and kisses and all the love his big heart can hold. He's so dear that we are flummoxed as to why he is STILL at the shelter. Just look at him --- he can't take a bad photo, for one. But beyond all that is a boy is a well trained, well behaved family pet. He is kind to small dogs, playful and affectionate with the people he loves, and he brings sunshine into the day of anyone who calls him their own. Prince is so eager to find a family to love. He does have an awkward gait to his back legs, and will need an ortho consult to determine how to help him with that, but if you foster him, the rescue that pulls will pay all those medical expenses, and you will just provide this adorable boy with support and love. Come on, tell us you don't need a new best friend as the winter months approach. And with Covid spiking again, wouldn't it be great to closet yourself in your cozy living room with a good friend, a bowl of popcorn and a movie? Prince is game, and not to be corny, he truly DOES want to be the Prince of your heart. A volunteer writes: Within a few minutes of meeting Prince, it was obvious I was in the presence of royalty! He is quick to do his 'business' then it is straight to the serious task of getting attention! He rubs himself against my legs like a cat letting me know he's ready for some pets. His body turns into an accordion as I scratch up and down his spine seeming to squeeze his frame together then stretch like elastic in delight, smiling ear to ear while I play music on his back. During our walk, I notice he has a funny, yet endearing gait to him, his back legs bowing out- possibly requiring some follow up medical care, but adorable nonetheless. In Prince's former home, he was reported to be respectful of small dogs, knows commands like sit and give paw, loves playing tug or fetch outside and is well behaved when left home alone. The only thing this Prince Charming seems to be missing is a castle to call his own. Another volunteer writes: At the risk of sounding like a total cliche, I've been completely charmed by a dog named Prince. And it happened in an instant. As we walk along with Rachel holding his leash, Prince throws me a few sweet glances. Then he makes his move; he swerves towards me, leans back against my legs, and waits to be petted. He sits right atop my feet and looks up at me with soft eyes and a wide, content grin. And that is how we continue down the street, with Prince stopping every few feet to gently lean himself into me with a hopeful and happy face. With all the stopping we don't travel very far down the road, but Prince is quickly landing himself a spot in my heart. He continues to cast his spell on me with the world's cutest 'paw,' hooking his white gloved arm over my hand, and looking at me like he knows exactly how cute he is. Prince's hind legs bow out, and will need some medical attention. In the meantime, they round out his awkward, yet perfect, charm and make me like him even more. When we end our time together, Prince prances around his kennel with a baby pink stuffed piglet toy, and I watch him just a bit longer, now completely smitten. While we became fast friends, Prince has been wary with some new people and would do best with a slow approach and training. In his former home, he was reported to be respectful of small dogs, know commands like sit and, of course, paw, and loved to fetch and play tug. Prince is looking for a rescue and an interested foster or adopter. One more volunteer writes in December 2020: We've all been charmed by Prince, and this weekend it was Santa's turn! Prince came with a plan. Traditionally you might sit on Santa's lap, but Prince took his place on her feet and leaned against her legs instead. The perfect spot to gaze back lovingly into Santa's eyes, get scratchies, and most importantly get gifts! Prince is obviously on the 'nice' list this year and got not one but two squeaky toys! He didn't budge, he just stayed on Santa's feet squeaking happily away! For me, Prince is the most endearing dog at Brooklyn ACC. If you can save him please text Kat 516 457-3678.
