About Caldwell

January Update: Caldwell is still nervous but has started to adjust to his new environment. He relaxes a lot around his friend Clive, and we can see glimpses of his gentle personality. He knows at least the sit command and is very gentle when taking treats from volunteers. Caldwell was one of 3 dogs picked up in the same area. All three are petrified of shelter life. Lovely trembles in fear; Clive we could not even get out of the kennel he was so scared. Caldwell was less scared than the other two, but you can see the fear in his eyes. He stayed in a hunched position until he noticed Lovely in the kennel across the yard. He cautiously made his way to her and stood there, almost a protective nature. We put him in the kennel next to Lovely to see if that helped her relax, but she did not. He feels the need to protect Lovely and reacted when Opal growled at her. We would love a foster home for Caldwell and Lovely so we can see their true personalities out of the shelter environment. Caldwell is currently a resident at Vermilion Parish Animal Control. He will be vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped upon placement in an adoptive or foster home. To adopt, complete the adoption application at AAVArescue.com.
