Hi there! My name is Genevieve and I'm a 2 year old, 51lbs, Rhodesian x Pit mix. I was VERY shut down at the shelter, and terrified of anyone coming close to my kennel, and am so thankful I was rescued from that scary place! - Who ... Me?? I still am in shock when humans give me attention and love, because I just don't understand that they could love me, but I'm getting used to trusting again and I just LOVE getting pets and cuddles!!! I want them all the time and would be your snuggle buddy forever! - I am a very smart, sweet, gentle dog, who LOVES to cuddle! I'm playful and a quick study. I really seek your approval and want to please, so I will take my cues from your mood. I often come to your side to make sure I am still the best doggo (which of course I am)! - My absolute favorite thing to do is cuddle. I want to sit as close to you or as far in your lap as I can crawl. I'm actually very sweet and gentle about it. I'll slowly inch closer and closer until I got you in a full embrace! I also give lots of kisses too. :) - I also enjoy squeak toys and playing fetch with a tennis ball. I can be a pretty playful girl, yet without being overly active and energetic. - Because I was abandoned and recently rescued and feeling love for the first time, I am working on my separation anxiety. I just don't want to be abandoned again and I get so scared that it'll be the last time I see you when you leave!! But that will be better with time and trust building, and understanding that you will always come back to me :) - I tend to be more anxious around men, and can get pretty scared of them, but my foster mom is working with me to overcome that fear. I'm pretty sure I was beaten by a man in my past ... - I am a medium on the energy scale, and will run and plays fetch with a ton of pep, but I will just as happily nap next to you while you're working or watching TV. I also love walks and will probably do really good on hikes as well! - I am currently being crate trained for my anxiety, and I am good about sleeping through the night in my crate. I am also fully potty trained and haven't had any accidents in the home! - 'm really good on the leash and after spending some time with a trainer, I walk with confidence and don't pull. I do get distracted by other people, dogs or squirrels, but I never have an aggressive reaction. It's always just a little hesitant, but once you show me you aren't bothered by the surroundings, I will continue to walk in step with you. - I am good with other dogs, but I haven't lived with cats or met kids yet, so not sure about either of those just yet. That being said I'm still pretty scared of loud noises or brusk movements, so young kids who will run around and scare me will not be a good fit. - My ideal home would be preferably with a fenced back yard where I can play and chase after tennis balls, and with a human (women preferred) who is mostly home with me during the day so I won't be miserable all day missing my human.
