About Ripley

My daughter adopted a scared, untrained, intense young pit bull 9 months ago. Ripley is now much calmer, so sweet, loves everyone, and is well mannered. She's still a very high intensity dog sometimes, but loves to cuddle. She is interactive and interested in people. We love this dog. Sadly, my daughter is in a health crisis and caring for Ripley has become impossible. The ideal home for her would be with a big fenced yard and a calm older dog friend. She likes other dogs but is so exuberant she can irritate them. She would be okay with bigger kids, but her energy level is too much for small ones. We believe she's fine with cats, so far that has been the case when we visit people who have a cat. As this breed has such a high prey drive and we haven't lived with her and a cat, caution is advised. She's crate trained, in excellent health, spayed, and up to date on her vaccinations. She loves to hike, swim, and meet people. She's trained on an e-collar (not shock, only vibration) so that she can be off lead when we hike. She has excellent recall. I believe she is 2. We all love Ripley so much, but right now my daughter has all she can handle just getting better, and I can't keep Ripley where I live. She is still a young dog and needs an active, experienced, aware owner who has had pit bulls previously. Ripley lives in Carrboro, but we go to Asheville often, and can help with transportation if you are a great match and aren't too far away.
