About Deacon

Lab / Pit Bull
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Male

Meet Deacon!! This little guy is the sweetest thing!! Although he's blind we know a special family will adore him! This life is all he's ever known and he functions extremely well. He doesn't know he's different %9D%A4%8F He is extremely well adjusted to his condition. He learns new environments quickly and does all the things a normal puppy does. He loves kids and the loud noise and commotion of a house full of toddlers didn't phase him at all. He enjoys bedtime stories read to him by the kids, so precious %8D Deacon is an approx 18 week old, male and he weighs 18 pounds. He is a pitbull lab mix best guess. He will be neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines as part of his adoption. He will also come with a training harness for blind dogs that helps them adjust to new places. Deacon is a fun loving, rambunctious puppy. He loves to play. Toys, bones, and anyone he can find to play with are favorites. We bought him some special toys that are scented and make noise to make it easier for him to find. These will go to him with his new home. He has been great around other dogs both big and small. He's been around toddlers and kids. He does great. He loves to play and chase the kids around. Despite being blind he has not been jumpy about noises and being touched. He hasn't met any cats yet. He's still very young and should be able to adjust to cats. Deacon has not gotten car sick when traveling. He's shown no aggression at all and has no trouble sharing food or toys. He is doing well learning potty training and leash training. He does best with another dog to follow around. He is very playful with a medium energy level. He sleeps a lot but when he's up, he is playing non stop! His foster has been teaching him to sit and he is very treat motivated. Overall he's your typical happy playful puppy that just needs a loving family!! He will need some minor changes made to accommodate his blindness such as helping him around stairs until he learns them and trying to minimize moving household furniture around. Adopting a young puppy is a ton of work. They will have lots of potty accidents, chew things up etc. You will need to help them learn things like leash walking, crate training and basic manners. It can be a lot of work but the reward is a dog that fits well into your families lifestyle if you invest proper time on training with them. Please carefully consider the time and effort a puppy requires before adopting. Vet and home checks required. (Home ownership preferred as it helps a blind dog not to switch environments frequently.) Located in Hampton VA. (He will need to be adopted within a 1 hour drive radius) '%BC%8FIF INTERESTED IN ADOPTING READ BELOW '%BC%8F'%BC%8F Please message [email protected] Facebook Page directly with questions or to get an application.
