About Zoey

Adoption Fee: $200
Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Alexandria, VA We are working on finding the right rehoming solution for Zoey with a family experienced with ACDs. Zoey Elizabeth was born on April 29, 2015 and is a 5-year old, spayed, 35 lb. petite red heeler. She is smart, energetic, sweet, and loyal. Zoey is currently living in a townhouse community without a yard. She would thrive in a single family home with a large, fenced in yard. Zoey's ideal family is a low stress, active household who are without young children. Zoey needs to be the only dog or with a very relaxed, older dog with no food or other hoarding issues. She needs at least two long walks per day. Though Zoey has great energy, she takes afternoon naps and is a true cuddle bug by 8 PM. Our family adopted Zoey when she was 1-year old and she has been cared for to the best of our ability. Zoey is a puppy kindergarten graduate who comes when called by name and knows 'hush,' 'sit,' 'time to go,' 'go upstairs/downstairs' and more. She is an all around great listener! Skills that Zoey needs reinforcement and patience with include pulling on a leash, barking at outdoor noises, sometimes barking and pulling after other dogs on a walk, and mild food and toy aggression. She is also not used to being around babies or children. Zoey believes cats, squirrels, and small dogs are the same species-she will chase after them and possibly worse. Zoey is in perfect health. She has had her teeth professionally cleaned and maintains a healthy weight between 35-38 lbs. She takes fluoxetine 20 mg once per day to manage her anxiety. If you are interested in being Zoey's forever family, please message me describing your experience with cattle dogs, location and household, and adoption timeframe so that we can discuss more. She will come with her collar, harness, food, a blanket, and medication. A rehoming fee applies. Thank you!
