[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] Poppie, also known as our little Popstar, is looking for her forever home. This little girl has been through an incredible amount of trauma in her short little life, and she deserves a home willing to commit to all of her needs. Her story is a long one, but she is worth every minute you'll spend reading this. Please only apply once you've read through everything. When Poppie was just about 6 weeks old, she was attacked on the rear end by a larger dog. Her owners at the time failed to provide medical care for at least a day or two. While police just happened to be serving a warrant for arrest at her home, they saw her, with her rear end bloody and visibly torn apart. They were able to seize her for lack of medical care, and they took her to an emergency vet. From there, she was transferred to the Arizona Humane Society. They did what they could to help her. She went to a medical foster, but after six weeks, she was not healing properly and was having trouble passing school. She was brought back to the Humane Society for reevaluation. They determined she either needed a rescue to step in to get her intensive repair surgery or she would be euthanized. When her medical foster reached out to us, we just couldn't say no. We took her in and got her the rectal repair surgery she needed. The recovery expectations were dicey at best, and we didn't know what her longterm prognosis would be. Poppie healed up incredibly well and is now able to pass stool. We were ecstatic that our little girl would have a chance a long, healthy and relatively normal life. She was actually adopted by her foster family who had been caring for her since the day she came into our rescue. Sadly, a few weeks ago, we received a call that they could no longer continue caring for her. This broke our hearts. After everything this little girl had been through, she deserved commitment. All dogs do. Ultimately, we believe that everything happens for a reason, and we are now searching that perfect forever home who is willing to provide Poppie all the love, commitment and care that she so deserves. Our little Popstar has some definite special needs, which we've known from day one and knowingly took on to save her life. Poppie is on a strict, healthy diet to keep her stool soft and regular. This is critical for her as she has decreased muscle tone in her colon, which makes it challenging for her to control her stool. She may need a gentle rinse on her rear end every other day or so, and she is [understandably] sensitive about her rear end in general. Beyond that, she is an otherwise normal, happy puppy. She is the queen of spunk and sass, and we know she will provide a lifetime of laughter and love for the lucky family who gets to take her home. Poppie is coming up on about seven months old. She is good with other dogs and kids of all ages. That said, we are looking for a home where she will be 'the baby'. One other small dog would be great for her to play with, but ultimately, we are looking for a home with not too much going on. We want a home where she can be the center of attention and where her care does not become overwhelming for any daily schedules. She deserves the best of the best, and we're determined to find that for her. We are located in Scottsdale, AZ; local applications only please.
