About Charlie

Papillon mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

I adopted Charlie as a puppy from the Oregon Humane Society December 18, 2015. Shortly thereafter he was diagnosed with distemper and thankfully I was able to quarantine him away from our other dogs for 6-weeks. The Humane Society euthanized 3 of 5 from Charlie's litter due to aggressive behavior, with Charlie being one of the survivors. Charlie has always been aggressive with other dogs, mostly around food and getting any where in his personal space. He growls, nips and will attack. Charlie has always been nervous around people, including children, teens and adults. He will hide under our bed, behind the couch, and even shake lying on the couch when I come home from work as if he's afraid to move. Out of our five dogs, Charlie is the only one to urinate in the home and approaching him to get him outside afterwards he will growl at me, bite me, and lose his bladder control. We are huge animal lovers, have several rescue dogs, and Charlie has never been mistreated yet he's afraid of everything. We have security cameras inside and out and Charlie is clearly the one urinating on shoes, couches, chairs, and even most recently our Christmas presents. We have tolerated this behavior, but unfortunately he's getting worse not better. He has bitten all of our dogs, bitten all of our children, he has bitten my son's girlfriend's ankle when she just walked through our home, he randomly bit the neighbor's 8-year son who was helping us with yard work, he bites my wife, and he has bitten me in both the face and neck in the past month breaking skin both times. He's a Papillon so not much damage occurred, but if he was a bigger dog this could have hospitalized someone and can no longer be overlooked. I have reached out to the Oregon Humane Society for help and unfortunately they are only able to offer end of life services for Charlie. He's on bite quarantine until January 21st. I honestly don't know what type of family Charlie needs or what would work for him and it breaks my heart to be in this position.
