About Hazelnut

Lab / Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Mmmm, mmmmm! Hazelnut is one sweet cup of goodness! This bundle of joyous energy is bound to make one active family very happy. We can't say for sure everything that's in this sweetie, but her tail, coat, and appetite speak to Lab, her spots speak to a Heeler or Pointer (she does point) or both as does her brilliant mind and sensitive soul, and there is probably a touch of pittie in there for a touch of wiggle butt. A better purebred mutt mix was never had. Hazelnut is about a year old and is around 62 pounds, so right at the top end of a medium-sized dog and the low end of a large-sized dog. She is not great on leash yet (she thinks everyone just wants to have fun including on a walk), and she does believe she is a couch dog. This girl would love a job too - and she loves a ball. So much so that she may actually make a great scent dog, her focus is so intense. This girl would be great in an active home that can give her exercise/walks. She may inadvertently knock young ones over so, though she does love kids, resident kids should probably be old enough to stand their ground. She gets along great with the large dogs in her foster home but her energy and desire to like everyone scares some of the small dogs. Cats will probably not like her lack of boundaries when meeting a new animal but we do not believe she would harm them. Hazelnut sleeps through the night in a crate and just wants to be loved. If you believe your home has been looking for a shot of sweet Hazelnut then read on or go directly to the adoption process page of our website, throwmeabondogrescue.org, to apply. All potential adopters are expected to complete an application and provide pictures of their yard, patio, and/or balcony making sure we can see the fence line and/or railing. The application can be completed and submitted from our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org - the link is found of the Adoption Process page. Applications will be reviewed for approval before setting an appointment to come meet and possibly adopt the dog of interest. In addition, those who live in a rental property are expected to provide proof that they are allowed to have a dog where they live. Each of our rescued dogs has been de-wormed if necessary, de-flea'd (with topical treatment if old enough, and by medicated bath if too young), spayed/neutered, microchipped, is up to date on shots, and has been fully examined by a veterinarian. In addition, each adopted dog comes with a starter baggie of the food it has been eating, a few treats for training purposes, a rawhide chew, a lead and collar, and a folder containing pertinent records.
