About Gus

Gus is a 6 Year old American Staffordshire terrier that adores his people. Probably weighs around 60 or so pounds. He is a big goof ball that loves snuggling on the couch and going out on a leisurely walk around the neighborhood. He hasn't been around other dogs much so he's very cautious and growls if they get too close. So we think that he will do best in a home with no other animals. He's coming into rescue because his family can not manage their children and a dog, at this time. The toddler is unfortunately bugging him and he doesn't appreciate it. Therefore, we would love to find him a family with older kids that can listen and be respectful, when around him. He is fully house trained, doesn't chew inappropriate things and he's kennel trained. His current family has given him the run of the house when they are away from home, and he's done just fine. But, we recommend crating him for the first few weeks, as he adjusts to new surroundings. Changing homes can be a little stressful & unsettling. If you're ready for a big hunk of love in your life, please reach out to us about our Handsome boy. He will be your best friend for the rest of his life. We will be setting up meetings with a $50 deposit that goes towards your adoption fee if you adopt. We are also doing video of interior and exterior of home in lieu of the homecheck. We are a FORCE FREE rescue. The adoption contract you will be signing specifically states that you agree to NEVER use any aversive methods nor tools like a shock, prong or choke collar. We are never sure about breed because we do not do DNA (we make our best guess), so if that is important to you, this dog may not be the right choice for you. Please, consider everything when making a decision to adopt a dog. As part of your adoption package, each dog will be fully vaccinated (Da2PP, Rabies), have a microchip, and be spayed/neutered. You may need to come back to us to complete shots, spay or neuter, hw test. You will receive 6 mths of HW preventative.You will receive a free bag of premium food, as well as a gift card from Choice Pet Market if you live in one of the designated zip codes . Training is MANDATORY and will be scheduled at a later date and place.
