About ROSIE

American Staffordshire Terrier
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Wide-eyed ROSIE (ID #A1962237) has roused me to wonder why she is in the East Valley Animal Shelter, Van Nuys, CA, and not in a loving home. ROSIE was relinquished to the shelter on December 22, after the Homeowner's Association, where her family resides, told them they could no longer keep ROSIE. The family did provide a bit of history about ROSIE, whom they had for 3 years, which is how old she is. ROSIE, they said *is shy when she first meets someone new; *she is gentle with adults, and she was gentle with the children she lived with; *she does not like smaller dogs or cats; *her favorite activities are playing fetch, walking, and cuddling; *she slept indoors and is crate-trained. The following are notes logged by shelter staff after their interactions with ROSIE: 'BEHAVIORAL (Tue, Jan 12, 2021 5:11 PM) rosie seems a little timid but i was able to leash her with no problem, she is actually really friendly and loves treats. PLAY GROUP (Sat, Jan 9, 2021 2:45 PM) 'romped' around the yard. Tolerated social male approach. Vocally slowed him down when he body bumped her for play-afterwards he avoided her BEHAVIORAL (Sat, Jan 2, 2021 7:01 PM) During feedings Rosie typically hangs in her back cubbie, hiding and observing. Today she was at the front of her kennel door and did not run into the back. I baby talked to her as I normally do, and reached out with a fist for her to smell at the door. She sniffed, and seemed to react postively wagging her tail and whole body. I dropped her food bowl and continued with feedings. Upon returning to collect her bowl she was at the front again, eager to see me. I walked into her kennel, gave her a small pat on the side and head and she just jumped all over me eager for affection loving all over. So I returned the favor in kind...
