About Dixxon

Doberman Pinscher / Rottweiler
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

We have been fostering this dog for the last three months and decided to adopt him, however in doing so we have come to the unfortunate conclusion that this is not the best environment for a forever home. He is a very loving dog, but has a very high prey drive. He does great with kids and other dogs, he is NOT good with cats. Age: 3.5 / 4 Breed: Rotterman (Doberman / Rottweiler mix) Microchippped: Yes Neutered: Yes His previous life was entirely outside / neglected (was not house trained / any training). Upon arrival we've kennel trained him, taught him his name, sit, come, stay, and shake. His prey drive is laser focused and as such he has gotten out three times trying to chase the neighborhood cats. He was previously surrendered due to constant escape as well, and would be best somewhere rural where if he escapes there is less risk of an injury due to traffic. Due to his limited training in his previous home he can be very stubborn. He is very smart and has learned to sit / extended stay and break on command. He is not necessarily treat / toy driven, but craves affection. He has a very gentle mouth, you can literally put your hand in his mouth while he's eating. No food aggression/ toy aggression with our other dog. Loves to play, and is super gentle with our 6 year old. He has had recent blood work done at East Padden Animal Hospital (everything came back OK), he is up to date on flea medicine, rabies, and all his shots. The previous animal control was required to re-up these due to unknown medical records at the time, so they were all updated 10/12/2020. We are not in a rush to re-home him, as it is difficult for me to do so - I am a strong proponent for rescue animals and have trained several dogs however there are more factors to consider this time around than simply my patience, we ourselves have a cat and it is quite difficult to unteach some of his bad habits involving 'the chase'. It should be noted- he has never hurt our cat, but he's only ever caught her once. We will not re-home him to someone in an apartment - he deserves space to run and play. Any interested party we would like to have a meet and greet to see how he does and possibly a second / continued meeting at your home so we know he has adequate space / environment. We can provide all medical information and paperwork that we have for him, along with kennel, leash etc. Small rehoming fee.
