Bose is a 1-1/2 year old, 45-pound male hound mix who currently resides at Pope Memorial Humane Society in Dover, NH. Bose was found as a stray, and has been at the shelter since July 2020. He is healthy, neutered, and up-to-date on vaccinations. There's one thing that Bose really enjoys and that's fetch! He has learned how to retrieve while at the shelter. He'd also be a nice walking buddy! He is a good leash walker and not reactive toward other dogs passing by. Bose is a nice boy, but will need an experienced foster, preferably one that has had experience dealing with resource guarding. However, if you have a solid background in owning or working with dogs with some behavior issues, the trainer and staff at PMHS will help you every step of the way if you are willing and able to learn how to manage Bose's behavior for guarding food, treats, and toys. Bose will need a very structured, carefully managed environment, so his ideal home is one with adults only and without a lot of comings and goings of visitors. He can be placed in a home with another dog, but only if the foster is experienced with monitoring and/or separating if food or toys are around. He can go to a home outside of the immediate Dover area, but repeated visits to the shelter will be required before taking Bose home.
