It's in the dog/puppy best interest to be placed into their furever homes. Where do I start with our sweet girl Penny? Came to use as an owner surrender, not sure of reason and non-given. Found out she was heartworm positive and faced many months of treatment. Sailed through her very painful shots to kill off the cooties and came out on top with all the nasty heartworms gone. Most recently it was discovered she had been shot and will bear those wounds forever. Buckshot all over her body, old fracture in her front right leg that has healed but will leave her with a bow leg. Vet did not want to do surgery as its healed and would be more traumatic to try and fix it. Despite all that Penny has gone through, she still has the sweetest soul ever!! She is shy, but I do not blame her. She gives the gentlest kisses and loves a good snuggle. New things and loud noises take her by surprise, but she trusts her 'person' and is willing to explore. She finds comfort in her foster brother and sisters so another dog would be nice for her. Loves her crate and when she feels overwhelmed, she will take a time out and retreat to her safe spot. Penny will never be that go for a 10-mile hike dog with her leg. Rather a slow walk around the block and hanging out in the backyard in the sun is her speed. She does get the zoomies sometimes, but mostly she's a very low-key girl. Because of her leg and shyness, it would be preferred that Penny's new forever home has no young kids. Accidents happen and having someone fall on that leg would be devastating to her. Plus, loud noises and fast movement tend to scare her, and kids will be kids. Penny will also need to remain on Heartguard for the rest of her life because of her previous positive past. She will also more than likely develop some arthritis in her leg where the fracture occurred and may need meds for that down the road. None of these are going to bust the bank, but its something to consider when applying for her. I know that there is the perfect home just waiting for our blue-eyed Warrior Princes. The perfect family that will spoil her and treat her like a Queen for the rest of her life. The perfect person that will make her get over the scars of her past and learn that life it pretty darn good.
