About Sushi

Meet Sushi!! If you are looking for the quintessential little girl, lap dog who LOVES to be carried around and kissed then Sushi is your girl! Sushi (and her two siblings that are also available for adoption separately) came from a farm in Tulare, CA where the people on the property evidently just let a few dogs breed and then suddenly there were too many dogs on the property. They predominantly lived outside and just wanted affection when we showed up. Having been able to see both parents we have a fairly good idea of what all three sibling are mixed with although each not only has their own unique personality they each inherited certain breed characteristics the different breeds they are mixed with. Mom was a long haired beautfiul (but matted) Shih Tzu mixed with Chihuahua and Dad was a Beagle mixed with some type of terrier. Sushi is the smallest of the 3 weighing about 8 pounds and has longer hair. She also has a slight deformity in her left front leg. We don't know if she was born that way or her leg was possibly broken and healed improperly but it does not impede her from jumping up onto the couch! She has more of the Shih Tzu/Chihuahua look. Her sister Mia is a bit bigger weighing about 10 pounds and seemed to get more of the Beale Shih Tzu traits and Lake is much larger weighing about 15 pounds and definitely is more Beagle and Terrier. Sushi is pretty submissive. She does like to play and has just begun to play with some toys but she is a big cuddler. She also learned to use the wee wee pads very quickly and does know to go outside. She would thrive in a household with another docile dog or cat and is also well suited for apartment living. She is also the type of dog that would be fine as an only dog but be able to spend alot of time with her human. We often have dogs that truly need a yard but she is that exception who could adapt to apartment living. Her adoption fee includes: 1. Her spay 2. Current vaccinations including rabies. 3. Deworming 4. Microchip 5. Starter Food 6. Bed 7. Harness and leash An adoption fee does apply. As we prescreen via email ONLY (we do NOT make or receive phone calls in the pre-screening phase) please tell us a bit about you such as: 1. Your lifestyle, activity level and work schedule. 2. Area you live in and if it is a house or apartment. 3. How many adults, children and pets in the household. 4. Where your pet stays when you are out or at work. 5. Where your pet will sleep. Some notes to consider before applying for Sushi: 1. Sushi is a Shih Tzu, Chihuahua & Beagle mix. Her hair is a little longer so she will require some groomings to keep from getting matted. 2. Sushi is a one year old puppy and as such will require the time and commitment to become the best canine citizen she can be. Please make sure that everyone is on board and ready for the responsibility of a young dog. 3. Please make sure you are ready to adopt before coming to see our adoptable dogs. We are a foster based rescue and do not have the space to hold dogs for a couple of weeks while you vacation or make your way to California to come and adopt. We will adopt out of state but ONLY if the potential adopter comes here to adopt in person and that is after a screening by Skype. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS EVER. 4. We are often inundated with emails about our adoptable dogs and try as we might to make everyone happy it is nearly impossible with only one dog and sometimes up to 50 potential families. The more information you provide in your email to us the quicker we will get back to you. If you have written to us before about a particular dog and did not receive a response please do try again. We try to answer every email but it is not always possible. Every dog has different home requirements that we search for so sometimes you are the right fit for the dog we are trying to place. 5.
