Meatloaf came to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona as a stray on May 9th, 2020. When the shelter took him in they identified him as a 4-year-old Hound mix and his weight was/is 86lbs. Since he was a stray, no one had any information or history on him. When I created his profile on this Website I had to choose his breed from a drop-down list. 'Treeing Walker Coonhound' was the choice that was closest to a 'Hound'. I also think he's part Australian Shepherd because of his tail, larger body and longer hair. I fostered him for a couple of months before adopting him on October 17th, 2020. My intention was to eventually rehome him so I could continue fostering other dogs that need help outside of the shelter. He is house-trained, he walks well on a leash, travels well in the car and is friendly and calm around other dogs and cats. He isn't a barker or a chewer, he sleeps well through the night and he is very happy in the morning when he gets his breakfast. He loves the outdoors and would be the perfect companion while hiking or camping. Meatloaf has been a wonderful dog and all I want for him is to have a home where he can continue to feel safe and be as happy with his new owner as he is with me. I will leave that up to him as to who he bonds with. I'm not looking to just dump him off on someone and I am willing to keep him until I find the right fit for both him and his new owner. I am donating the fee to Rescue Me.
