About Helena

Domestic Cat
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Hi, I'm Helena, and I am a Very Special Kitty! My Foster-Mama says so! I am not quite sure why I am a Very Special Kitty, but I think it is because I am an orange, female, classic tabby! That is pretty special, right? And because I am special, I get special nicknames too! And a lot of them! The other cats have ordinary nicknames - MacGyver is Mac, Harley is Har, Maverick is Mavvy, Matilda is Tilly. My nicknames are different! I am Scooter, Scoot-Scoot, Scootsie, and Scooty-Baby! And sometimes I am Good Girl, but I think that might be a description and not a nickname. I came to live with Foster-Mama a long time ago, when I was a young kitten. I don't have many memories of that time. My earliest memory was of flying through the air. And something hurt my eye - it Hurt! Hurt! Hurt! And I hit the ground and my back made a Crack! sound. And my back legs and tail stopped doing the thing that they are supposed to do. But I figured out how to move with just my front legs, so that was OK. But my eye hurt so much! After that, I was hungry for a while. I don't know where my mother went, but she wasn't there to feed me anymore. So I had to find food by myself. It was harder without my back legs doing the things that back legs are supposed to do, but I didn't give up. I was so hungry I could hardly stand it. But then some Nice People found me and took me home and fed me. It was so wonderful! I ate and ate and ate! But then there was another problem. I couldn't make pee come out like it should. And the poop didn't want to come out very often either. And the Nice People were worried that they couldn't take care of me. So they looked for help for me. And that is how I ended up with Foster-Mama. Because I am a Very Special Kitty, I get Special Food - I get wet food All Of The Time! And Foster-Mama mixes Special Things in it! And I am the only one who gets to eat my Special Food. I have a Special Place to eat my Special Food, so the other cats can't eat it. There is just one problem though. I think that Very Special Kitties should get their Special Food AND ordinary food too. So when Foster-Mama gives me Special Food, I eat it as fast as I can. Then I MEOW as LOUD as I can to tell Foster-Mama that she should let me out of my Special Eating-and-Sleeping Place so I can eat the regular food too! But I think her ears don't work very well. She doesn't let me out until all of the regular food is all gone. I don't think that is right. Another thing that isn't right - I think that all of the Special Treats should be just for the Very Special Kitty - ME! I try to tell the other cats that, but they ignore me and eat the Special Treats too. I wish Foster-Mama didn't keep trimming my claws - I am sure they would listen better if my claws were sharp. I like Foster-Mama. She is warm, and I like to sit beside her on her chair. I trill at her when I want to sit with her. She doesn't always hear me, though. But I know how to get her attention! If I stretch, I can nibble her elbow - she pays attention then! I wish I were the only cat that liked to sit with Foster-Mama, but I have to share. That doesn't seem right. Very Special Kitties shouldn't have to share! They especially shouldn't have to share with Henry. Henry isn't nice. He swats me! Even when I was there first! I don't like Henry. I don't like it when Foster-Mama carries me down the stairs. I am afraid she is going to drop me. I wiggle as hard as I can to try to tell her I want her to put me down so I can go down them myself. Sometimes I even use my claws. I think if my claws were longer, she would listen. But just when they start getting sharp again, she says 'Ow!' Then she trims them. I don't think Foster-Mama should be allowed to say 'Ow!' If she didn't say 'Ow!' my claws would be long and sharp like I want them. There are lots of other cats at Foster-Mama's house, but I don't have any special friends. Sometimes Tilly will wrestle with me - I like to wrestle! - but the rest of the foster cats don't want to play with me. Well, they sort-of play with me - they chase my tail. I think that is rude! I want a kitty friend that will play with ME not my tail! I do have one very special playmate - the Red Dot! The Red Dot comes to play with me once a day, and it is so much fun! We play tag! It is strange, though - I can never feel it when she catches me. And when I try to catch her, she always gets away. I think it is because my claws are short. If my claws were long, I am sure I could tag her - I am fast! I wish Foster-Mama didn't trim my claws short all of the time. She needs to stop saying 'Ow!' I like Foster-mama, but she says I can't stay with her forever. She says something about 'arthritis', and that it hurts her when she helps me pee. She says she wants to find the perfect home for me. I hope the perfect home has lots of Special Treats! And a warm person to sit by! And I want the Red Dot to visit me there too! But no Henry. I don't like Henry.
