About Martian

Hi I'm Martian (need to be an only dog). Sadly, I am set to be euthanized Sat. Jan. 9th 8 am. One of the saddest reasons a dog can be E-listed is because they are mentally breaking down in their kennel. This is what's happening to me. I am really struggling, and it is inhumane to keep me here in this condition (see details below)....Can someone save my life? I'm so shy! But warm up nicely. I am a 4-year-old, neutered, white and black American Pit Bull Terrier/Lab mix. I came to the shelter as a timid, nervous, tail-tucked stray pup. I have been waiting for a home for over 60 days. This length of time in a shelter environment is extremely hard on a dog. I am now so distraught that I am licking the walls and destroying my bed, bedding and toys. I don't have a bed left, so I am sleeping on the cold, concrete floor. Staying close to people I know helps me relax; and when I am comfortable, I will lean in for petting and seek attention. I did not pass my dog-to-dog evaluation because I had a nervous greeting and remained fearful and defensive around the other dogs. I am falling apart and need out of the shelter and into a quiet, calm home environment where I can decompress. The shelter recommends that I go to a home with an experienced adopter and requires that the adopter have a Behavior Team consult and a family introduction before I leave. If there are children in the home, they need to be 12-years or older. I just can't imagine this is how it could end for me�'�|Will you save my life? Love Martian
