About Topper

Meet Topper Topper is a stunning young dog at nine months. We think he's a McNab Shepherd/Catahoula mix weighing 46 lbs. He was rescued from a high-kill shelter, along with Faith and Daisy. Topper is settling into the safety of our shelter where his personality comes out more every day. Topper is on the quiet side, chewing on a bone or his toys, until someone engages him to play or go for a walk. He LOVES attention and is very affectionate. He's also a silly boy, loves to chase balls and will drag his blanket around with him. He's learning some commands, but is often more interested in watching the goings on around him. He enjoys his walks and being outside. He has good energy and will do best with an active family or person. We haven't yet tested Topper with other dogs or cats, but will do so for potential adopters. Topper will make for a wonderful companion. He longs to be someone's special doggo and will be very loyal in return. He is quick to capture your heart and not let go. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
