Meet Spike!! �'�%BC��%8FPOST RECENTLY UPDATED�'�%BC��%8F It's a miracle that Spike is even alive. In August a tornado came through and demolished every home in his neighborhood. He survived this tornado WHILE CHAINED UP OUTSIDE!!! (See photos below, it was awful) Spike was at the shelter from the beginning of August until Christmas Eve when we went and got him. He's such a good boy, so full of love he insists on sharing with you!! Spike is an approx 2 year old, male, Pitbull type. He weighs 64 pounds. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. He is heartworm positive but had begun treatment already. His treatment is fully paid for already. Spike is a total ham! He's good with kids and strangers and is happy to meet anyone willing to pet him. Hes a true gentle giant. He's playful but also relaxed and calm. He loves to cuddle and lounge around with his people. He does not like cats. Toys! Bones! More Toys!! Spike LOVES toys and bones. If you scatter 15 toys on the floor he will make sure every single one gets attention ���� He just loves to unstuff the plush ones and naw on bones and antlers. He has been doing so much better playing appropriately with other dogs!!! With calm dogs he's perfect. They share bones, treats, food, no issues at all. With playful or active dogs he gets so excited to play and sometimes tries to hump or pin them to the ground (which is understandably not appreciated by the other dogs.) We have been working very hard on this with training and he's really doing well. He is starting to understand what he can and can't do. He takes corrections very well. He really tries to be a good boy he just hasn't had the life experience to understand how to play. He was fostered with a senior chihuahua who told Spike from the beginning that under no circumstances would playing happen ���� Spike listened and the chihuahua was left alone without issue. Spike lived his entire life outside on a chain before coming to us. Despite that he's doing extremely well learning the rules of being indoors. He is working on potty training. He is starting to understand the concept but does still have accidents. He does not have accidents in his kennel and sleeps in there overnight without any problems. He loves being outside and running around. He likes to play fetch and run Zoomies. Spike does amazing in the car but hasn't learned to jump in by himself yet. If there's no dogs around to excite him he walks well without pulling. If he gets excited he will pull on the leash but can be corrected easily. He is crate trained and does well sleeping overnight in his kennel but prefers your bed or the couch. If you're looking for an overly happy, big loving boy to cuddle with then he's the dog for you!
