PRIORITY PLACEMENT - Anxious - at risk of self-harm LEGENDARY feels anxious at the shelter, ACC thinks he would benefit from finding placement soon. INTAKE DATE: 28-Nov-2020 They had no time for him and his pregnant sibling. Sounds like a real dream home right? Wrong. Unaltered pets, one getting the other pregnant, and hormones running high, LEGENDARY was not in the home of his dreams. Worse, he had been a 'giveaway' to his parent 4 years earlier, so his life has had no stability at all. Yet despite the changes, despite the loneliness, despite the chaos, he managed to gather a sterling resume of skills and commands, and he was always up for playing with other dogs. His consolation was milkbones, his favorite treat, or the very rare game of tug when his parent was not too ill or too busy to give him their time. His eyes would light up, he would get all wiggly and playful, and perhaps the game would last more than a few minutes. But he would live off those few minutes for months afterwards. He needed training he never got, exercise to tucker him out, games to stimulate his mind'|.all the things that every dog gets, but he never complained. Without their guidance, he didn't learn the calming exercises like 'down stay' or 'place' that would help him channel energy in a positive way that would allow him to remain calm in the face of distraction. He also didn't learn 'drop it/leave it' so he could learn to share his resources --- resources that were his only comfort when no one else paid him attention. Legendary got a raw deal, but now it is time for him to find that experienced foster or adopter who will give him all the time he needs, the training he is eager for, and the love and attention he has gone without. HURRY AND MESSAGE our page or EMAIL US at [email protected] if you are the one who can give him the family he's always dreamed of.
