About DAMON (west)

American Staffordshire Terrier / Pit Bull
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

SCHEDULED TO BE EUTHANIZED. Hi, my name is DAMON ID#A4510299. I am a neutered male, white and black American Pit Bull Terrier and American Staffordshire mix. I am about a year old, and have been at the shelter since December 3, 2020. I am E-listed for a few reasons and the shelter made it clear I will not have any extensions. I bit someone in my last home and I am struggling so bad in my kennel at the shelter I am injuring myself in my surroundings (head butting Guillotine door to the point of breaking it twice). I am a strong dog. I am so young that I deserve another chance.... Can you save my life? Here is all the shelter has in their notes re my bite occurrence at my last home: 'Doing dishes and placed food near sink'. Really? Is this all that could be documented? Not fair...if only I could speak! All I can say is that I am a very young boy and I think I was in the wrong home. I was friendly on intake and was fine in the yard when the volunteers had me out to assess. I did fine with other dogs also. I must go to a experienced home with yard with no children for now. I will need solid assessment and training so please pledge on this post for a Rescue to step up. This is the only way to save my life at this point. Again, I am still just a puppy so I hope you can all help me live.... Love Damon%9D%A4 Here are a few more notes by volunteers about Damon: 12/3/2020 OBSERVATION Friendly, wags tail, approaches to greet. Snared due to bite dog and walked on leash with slight pull. Loaded into truck without issue. 12/3/2020 INTAKE ASSESSMENT Bite dog on snare. allowed all handling while snared on ramp. walked on the snare but pulled. 12/9/2020 EVALUATION Cautious but easy to manage; pulled on the leash while walking to the yard; distracted and allowed handler to collar. Quick entrance; excited greeting. Indifferent but responsive to the yard lead. Explored and marked; solicited attention from the helper dog on and off. This dog's life will end this week unless someone steps up and saves him. 'URGENT' If you have no breed restrictions, please call ASAP = Dog Saver Hotline 480-331-4188
