About Tru

Adoption Fee: $400
Jack Russell mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Hang on to your hats, Tru is back the building!! He was adopted for a time and unfortunately had to be returned. Well, not that we are sad to see him come back, we happen to love his company, but it is not a great experience for the adoptive family nor the dog. Tru met the family and was great, but apparently that situation was too much for the little fella(4 active kids) and he may do better in a calmer household with a bit more dog savvy family. JRT's are a little force to be reckoned with but that can be a very wonderful, special, loving and life changing relationship. Jack Russels are incredibly perceptive, strong willed but also very devoted and eager to please. They make the kind of companion that we all hope for, but you have to be a very strong willed and assertive person yourself or often a JRT will run the show if you don't. We STRESS that when bringing a dog home you must limit their exposure to outside people and let the dog settle in, decompress and figure out the new people in their lives. Hugs, excitement and rough housing can come later when they figure out their place in your home. They are not really for first time dog 'owners', they need to have a person that understands the need for a calm/assertive person in their lives(Thank you Cesar Milan!) That said, Tru is a prefect example of a JRT, although he most likely is a mix. He is simply stunning, well built, agile and has one blue eye, quite striking. Tru perhaps had another previous family that did not quite understand him so he is learning some manners, often he will get jealous of the other dogs or has his moments of trying to be alpha. It seems to be more fear based and with time and guidance he will become more confident and not feel the need to react(barking/growling with some play) to other dogs on occasion. Tru is incredibly loving with his people, he is a little wiggle butt and is learning understand sharing the affection with other dogs. But, with a 140 pound Great Pyr in the house, he is learning quickly he is safe with dogs of all shapes and sizes. Tru will do best in a very active home with another playful dog. He really does need a fenced yard for all of that energy and no long hours alone, even post covid. There are dogs that are fine for apartment living , a JRT is not that dog. Tru is just 10 months old and about 20 pounds, he is so smart. He will go to the door and cry to go outside, is very open to guidance and training. His adoption fee is tax deductible, plus he is available for a free month of insurance and will go home with plenty of food and treats to help him settle in. His adoption fee is $400.
