About Alex

Alex is a 3 year old Blue Lacy/Weim mix that is stunning in looks, loving personality, and an abundance of energy. He is fully vetted, neutered, and his diet consists of Fromm dog food. His favorite snacks are apples and bananas, and loves to catch pop corn when tossed in the air, but his most favorite treat is ice cubes! He is potty trained and will go to the door to let you know he has to go out, and loves to do zoomies in the yard before he completes his mission. He is also kennel trained, and happy to go to his kennel when instructed to. He also enjoys sleeping in the bed and is not a bed hog at all, in fact, you don't even notice he is there throughout the night. Alex also enjoys snuggling time in a comfy recliner, either off to the side, on you, or he likes to lay on his back beside you in the chair. He enjoys playing fetch with a ball and for the most part, he will bring the ball back to you, but it is sometimes fun to play the 'keep away' game before giving up the ball. Alex also likes to clean his teeth with a flavored nyla bone, or chew around on a kong. He also likes resting on the furniture during nap time, or a comfortable dog bed on the floor that has sides to it, which is from the Weim trait of liking to lay against something. Alex enjoys long walks and is responsive to the leash and walks well, and if you are a runner, he would run beside you very well, and would probably outlast you in a long run. He is great around other dogs, both small and large size, and also very good with younger children. He also loves going for rides, and enjoys his time at the dog park. Alex will thrive in an active home as an only dog, but he will require someone with Weim knowledge and who can demonstrate being his alpha. He does better with men, but will do good with a strong alpha personality female. Alex's only negative behavior is when meeting new people - he loves to overwhelm the person(s) by getting very excited around them, and likes to push himself into them. Once he gets the attention he is seeking, he starts to calm down. Alex also likes to see what is in open trash cans and what he can retrieve, so a trashcan with a lid is best. He also likes to play keep a way with paper, napkins, tissues, or what ever he thinks would be fun to run away with, but if you distract him with his favorite toy, or a treat, he will drop what he is not supposed to have. Alex also responds well to a sprayer bottle filled with water to stop negative behavior. Alex knows the commands of: sit, stay, and down. He is a very smart dog in that he knows hand signals to perform these commands.
