About Morgan

Adoption Fee: $400
Anatolian Shepherd / Australian Kelpie
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

MORGAN! Approximately 1 and a few months year old. Looks like a chocolate and fawn Kelpie and Anatolian shepherd. His DNA test would be interesting to see! The shelter had him listed as a 'she', and there was a gender reveal once he allowed his tummy to touched! This handsome guy and his sister, Marlo, have had quite the journey to get here. They were confiscated from a property with too many dogs, and had apparently just existed, zero socialization or handling. They were confiscated with some other dogs. The leash was definitely a foreign experience for both. Shelters don't like this, so last call for these two, made it out on their final hour thanks to a village of people to provide transportation, vetting and boarding, eventually getting them here. I've been working hard with Morgan since July 2020! He walks beautifully on leash and comes to his name. I could probably let him off leash completely, but mostly I let a long line drag. He's not a heeler or a border collie. He's got more of the guardian working mentality, and he's independent! I can see his wheels turning when I call him to come to me. Weighing out the ROI, a little more freedom and a treat? Or me in a huff when I reel him in. He's figuring it out! Makes much more sense to stay with me and come when called. Morgan is an awesome dog. He's about 75 lbs, and just filling out into the dog he will be. He really is magnificent. He's sweet and curious! He loves, I mean loves, my 90 lb male dog Romeo, he just loves the confidence in this older pack leader I think. He's very respectful of my older gals. Gentle and cautious with fragile 16 yr old Bonnie, and Tory is his home girl, gangster, even at 14, and she loves to play with Morgan. Morgan gets along with all the dogs, but has taken special liking to some, like cute little Willie. I've come to really love this boy and I'm so proud of his progress! As hard as this is, the goal always was to get Morgan a home of his own. It's time for him to transfer his allegiance to another pack. So definitely another dog or 2 in his future. He seems to have some prey drive on the trail. But that doesn't preclude him from being introduced to a cat. He really is a very gentle giant. Morgan came here with exposure to nothing. So everything was new for him. His world is opening up for him a little at a time and he's up for it! I take him on neighborhood walks now as well as nature hikes. And he does great with his harness or on a collar. So the needs and wants for Morgan are other dog/s, a large yard, and owners who are active and up for training a young, intelligent dog. And expanding his horizons.
