INTAKE DATE: 1-Nov-2020 ALLIE GOT SOME ADORABLE NEW PICS, SO WE MADE HER A NEW POSTER -- PLEASE SHARE THIS AMAZING SENIOR BECAUSE SHE IS BEING UNFORGIVABLY OVERLOOKED. SHE IS SO DEAR... https://www.facebook.com/NYCDogsLivesmatter/photos/a.3027270787332048/3827085990683853/?type=3&theater When you are old and your muzzle is gray and you have devoted 10 years of your life (i.e. like 70 human years) to the happiness of your family, you hope that in your golden years you can just lay around on a soft bed in a quiet home and take naps and eat treats. So thought Allie, until the day her heartless owner cruelly dumped her at the shelter because of her own failure to protect Allie from an erratic, loud toddler and an over the top 'in your face' puppy who came uninvited into Allie's domain. Allie had tolerated both as best as she could, but even the most easygoing, stoic dog cannot be expected to put up with bad behavior. Her parent should have taught the child boundaries and manners. And she should not have let someone bring a puppy into Allie's domain, run all over the place, take Allie's toys and jump all over her to boot. For all 10 years of her life she was the very best friend you could ever ask for - friendly, affectionate, playful, obedient and so well mannered and behaved. She had a sterling resume of skills, and her greatest joy was sitting next to her family watching TV and taking long walks. We think it's high time Allie had a family that appreciated her for all her wonderful qualities and her devotion. Please won't you take in this poor wronged senior? Hurry and MESSAGE OUR PAGE or EMAIL US at [email protected] for assistance. A volunteer writes: 'Allie won me over immediately. Her gentle eyes and gray frosted face show a dog yearning for a sense of stability again. Allie was surrendered by her owner of 10 years and is lonely and lost right now. She is understandably quite nervous in the shelter, but you can tell she really wants to trust. She has perfect gray and white sock feet that she places into my hand to show off her paw. Her previous owner reports that she is very obedient. As we try to get her to show off all her tricks, we almost head inside because it is too windy and cold to keep an old girl out too long today, but we try one more thing. Rachel takes out a ball and Allie's face lights up. It's like the most familiar object she has seen since coming to ACC and she's so happy to knock it around with her paws and chomp on it. Her previous owner says she loves all types of toys, is house trained, and well behaved when left alone. Her reported favorite activity is watching TV which shows me she would be the perfect winter quarantine cuddle buddy!'
