About Mya

It's heartbreaking and enraging to think about the awful life Mya endured. She showed up in early 2020 at someone's house in miserable condition - emaciated, covered in mange and fleas and ticks. That nice person took her to the Vet and she got Heartworm tested (miraculously negative), vaccinated, and started on a number of medications for her fleas/ticks, mange, skin and ear infections. When she came here we continued and added medications. When she was strong enough, she was spayed and had a mammary tumor removed. Then I noticed that her face looked like it was melting and realized that her upper mandible was broken and not attached to the roof of her mouth. I feared this poor long suffering angel had cancer and would never get a chance to know love and comfort and joy. But the Vet did surgery and believes it was trauma. GRRRRRRRRRRR. She has had two surgeries to close the hole in the roof of her mouth, and even though it is still open a bit, she does GREAT eating and even LOVES LOVES LOVES knuckle bones. Mya is now solid and chunky and has most of her hair. She is so funny and goofy and playful and affectionate. WITH PEOPLE. However, because she does NOT like other animals, she must be an only pet in an all adult home. She has great indoor manners. Likes to play fetch. Not a huge fan of walking.
