About Badger

Badger(Badge)is 11 months old and weighs about 85 pounds. We purchased him from a neighbor ($200),when he was 2 months old. His parents were on the premises. His mother looks like and was reported to be a purebred shepherd. His father is a mix, looking like a husky / shepherd. I've been told that Badge looks like a Rottweiler; his color and markings are similar to one. He was neutered at 6 months old, and is current on all shots/ rabies vaccination. I'm very attached to him. He is very loyal. I've reluctantly resorted to adoption because I can't take care of him on my own. Also, I can't have him near my cat. My husband treats the dog humanely; but that's it. He doesn't care for the dog, and considers him a chore. My husband is retired. I still work. Badge had 5 private training lessons with Designing Dogs. He is high strung and seems anxious sometimes. Initially we weren't successful at even basic commands because we didn't know what we were doing. I always relied on positive reinforcement, but wasn't very consistent. The training helped a lot, but the dog regressed some when the training stopped in August. Badge loves to playball, run, and snoop around. He can become too rough for me to handle. He doesn't like to be left alone in the house, and will follow me anytime that I move. He seems the most comfortable in his outdoor 10' x 10' x 10' pen (plus a doghouse on outside perimeter). He needs more human interaction. He is a good watchdog. He's aggressive toward my cat. She is afraid of him. I can't have them in the house at the same time. He's only been around one other dog (a female shepherd). The trainer used this dog in our sessions. Badge was well behaved with her. He hasn't been around children.
