About king Boo

TO BE KILLED 12/08/2020 Sweet, social, handsome King Boo sits on death row and is awaiting his execution. His crime is that he doesn't like other dogs. It's amazing how he got to be 3 yrs old, and his owners never bothered to have him neutered. All the male hormones in his system is definitely not helping his issue. Owners should address their pets' issues while they're still young. The longer you allow these issues to go unabated, the more difficult it would be to correct. King Boo is good with people, he has put his trust in humans, even in his humans who failed him. Please share King Boo to help him! PLEASE HELP HIM. PET PROFILE Owner surrender through field services. King is a large mixed breed male dog. He came into the shelter as an owner surrender. King was surrendered due to his reactivity with other dogs. Previously lived with: 2 adults, 2 children Means of surrender (length of time in previous home): Owner Surrender Behavior toward strangers: The previous owner stated that King does well with strangers. The previous owner stated that outside or in the home, he approaches strangers on his own and is very excited to meet new people. Behavior toward children: In his previous home, King lived with two children. The previous owner stated that in the home, he is normally okay with them, but has some questionable behavior from time to time. The previous owner stated that with children in the home, if they try to play with him he can be okay. When the children from the previous home seem afraid of him or urn away from him, he will begin to growl and bark at the kids or run after them as well. The previous owner mentioned that when King sees children that are strangers to him, he will begin to bark and growl at them and may lunge. Behavior toward dogs: The previous owner stated that around other dogs, King will bark ad growl at them. The previous owner stated that his barking is more like high pitched screaming and mentioned that he becomes very reactive. She stated that at times, he will approach them and sniff them, but then react with barking or growling after sniffing them. He also lunges towards other dogs and seems like he is attempting to bite. How is this dog around cats? This was not observed in the previous home. Resource guarding: The previous owner stated that they were able to take / touch food and toys while king was actively using them and he would not react. Bite history: Yes, King Boo has previous bitten 2 other dogs. In one instance, he was introduced to a dog and bit and held onto the dog. In the other instance, King Boo broke his collar and ran up to a dog that picked up. King Boo grabbed the dog from the owner's arms and attacked him. Severity of the injuries are not known. Housetrained: Yes Has this dog ever had any medical issues? Yes Medical Notes The previous owner stated that King broke out from a shampoo bath and they attempted to take him to vet; however, the vet was unable to see him due to his reactivity with the dogs in the lobby. The client was asked to bring a muzzle for the appointment, but was unable to purchase before surrendering to the shelter. Energy level/descriptors: King Boo is described as having a high level of activity. For a New Family to Know In the previous home, King lived with 4 other people. When in the home, King likes to follow people around from room to room and loves to be around his family. His previous owner stated that he is often looking for affection from the people in the home. The previous owner stated that when taking King on walks, he tends to pull very hard on the leash. The previous owner also stated that he is very well trained and very treat motivated. The previous owner stated that King knows how to sit, lie down, and roll over for treats. The previous owner stated that in the previous home, King slept mostly on the floor and had a dog bed in almost every room so he always had a place to hang out with the family.
