** TO Be Euthanized 12/6/2020 in NYC ** FOSTER or ADOPTER needed BY NOON that day to SAVE friendly Gus' life! Sweet, Social, Older Gentleman GUS at BACC! Gus thinks he's a lap dog and is here to steal your heart Friendly gentleman GUS is a brindle mush in need of TLC. This kind soul would like to find a quiet loving home and show his family what a lovebug he is. He is looking for an experienced family with no kids u. 13 who can let him decompress and take it slow with him. PLEASE MESSAGE OUR PAGE or EMAIL US at [email protected] for assistance. A volunteer writes: As I wait in the yard for our next doggie photo shoot, a big brindle baby lumbers toward me. His boxer-ish face is strikingly handsome, with dark brown eyes and an extra-wrinkly forehead. This is Gus and while he's not actually a baby, (he's 6!), his exuberant energy and soft, rubbery coat make him seem like a puppy. When another volunteer sits on a bench and calls him over, this 'pup' turns into an 80-lb lap dog, sitting on her legs and soaking up the affection. When he's done with the cuddle session, we play fetch and enjoy watching his big, lanky body scramble after the ball. Gus was brought to the shelter as a stray in early October and was observed to be affectionate, but very possessive around his things, especially food. He was adopted a month later, but his adopters felt they were not equipped to safely handle training him. Now, he's looking for a rescue partner to place him in an adults-only home. He needs someone committed to giving him positive reinforcement training to control his impulses and daily exercise so he can de-stress and become part of a family. We think Gus has the potential to be quite a lovebug! A volunteer writes in Gus' name: My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! I am a sweet, social, older gentleman, looking for the perfect forever home! I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am.
