About Kamala

This fun-loving, intelligent, and goofy girl is a 4-year old, 68- pound Black Mouth cur mix. She started life as a street dog in Thailand, but now lives in Franklin, North Carolina. She is spayed, up to date on her shots, dewormed, microchipped and current on flea/tick prevention (Bravecto). Kamala's early life was spent in a temple in Thailand with her brother, and many other stray dogs. One of the temple monks adored her so much that he had her snuggle and sleep on his bed every night with him! At 4-months old she was adopted by a loving family. Two days after being rescued, 5 dogs died at the temple after an accidental poisoning. She is a true survivor! Early in 2020 she and her family moved to the U.S. where Kamala has continued her favorite habit of sharing the bed with her humans, but she also loves her own dog bed. She has a rug obsession and would love to have any sort of rug where she could roll around and rub her back against while making funny noises. She's a comical dog who will be sure to give you your daily dose of laughs and love! Though dearly loved, she is being rehomed because of severe prey drive, especially toward small animals, which has been difficult to manage with other animals living in the home. Otherwise, Kamala is a wonderful all-around dog for an adult-only home where she can be the one and only fur-kid. Kamala is extremely playful and loves to play 'chase' with people. She loves anything related to food and snacks throughout the day! She is very smart and treat-motivated to learn. She knows basic commands such as come, sit, paw, down and 'gentle', and 'joob, joob' meaning 'kiss, kiss' in the Thai language. She is totally house-trained and does not require crate because she's perfectly fine when left alone in the house, even for an extended period of time. However, when crated for international travel, she was absolutely content. Kamala is a big cuddler and loves anyone who gives her attention and love. She wishes she was a lapdog! She loves to snuggle on the couch with her humans and her ultimate favorite thing is to snuggle and give lots of kisses in the morning when you wake up. She also snores very gently or sleeps belly up when very relaxed! She is always excited to ride in the car because it usually means going on an adventure. She will happily accompany you on lengthy walks and hikes. She walks very well on the leash but needs more socialization when it comes to crossing paths with other dogs. Owners would need to be in control at all times as she is a strong and stout girl who will need help to be a confident walker. She will benefit from redirection and positive reinforcement.
