About April

Hi!! My name is April and I'm a 7 year old, 60lbs German Shepherd Mix. - I am such a sweet girl! I can be a bit timid around loud noises and new experiences, but am always gentle with everyone around me. - I LOVE to cuddle, and constantly want to push my head under your arms or legs, or lean my body into you for a hug. - I take directions really well! If you use a stern voice from across the room to tell me not to get the food on the counter, I will listen and respond immediately. No backtracking, no ignoring the command, I understand right away I'm not allowed to do that... and I am also fully potty trained. I'm such a smart girl! - I love to just be wherever you are. I enjoy a good nap in a comfy doggy bed, and like sun bathing outside if you have a fenced in yard, and go on long walks. - I get so attached so quickly that I tend to get anxious when you are in another room, so I'm working on being ok with you gone, although I do calm myself down eventually and just go to sleep. I am also not a fan of the harness just yet. It was clear I had never been properly walked before, so learning to walk on a leash was definitely a weird feeling, but I'm mastering that already and am very gentle on walks too! - I'm generally pretty chill and will love to just hang out with you on the couch, but also go on longer walks in the morning and night. - I like other dogs but will definitely be the more submissive one. I will never ever be aggressive, and will let the other dog know I mean no harm. I haven't been with cats or children but because of my calm behavior, my foster thinks I would be totally fine with both, as I am just so gentle and protective. :) If you see me online I am still available for adoption!
