About Miles

Miles - ��%BD��%BD��%BD Needs a soft place to land with a bee foster/adopter or 'foster to adopt ASAP. Available for Adoption /or Foster Friends of Stanly County Animals Rescue My name is Miles, or as my foster parents call me Mr. Miles. I'm 4.5 yrs old and weigh 85 lbs. I have been with my foster parents for 4 months basically on a trial run towards adoption. Currently, I walk at least 1 to 4 miles almost everyday at a pace of between 17:30 and19 minutes per mile. I am friends with my foster parent's older female dog and their 4 cats. I don't react at all. My rescue calls me 'dog selective'. I love my foster family so I automatically protect our home. People dropping by the house with their dogs isn't ideal. I like the neighbor'dogs, but still feel I need to protect my home. I enjoy long walks and I'm learning not to pull on the leash. I'm learning to pull less and pay more attention to my foster's directions. The gentle lead leash seems to work well for me. I need someone who can continue to teach me. I really enjoy being outside so I can walk, smell, see the scenery. This may sound funny, but I love watching the buzzards fly. When an emergency vehicle comes by I have a beautiful howl that sounds like the siren. I do have separation anxiety when my foster parents are out of the room or leave the house. I pant and whine, but eventually I do go back to my spot on the couch or floor. I try to offer my paw wanting love and affection. I love to play with toys and some minor fetching, but only when I'm on the mood. I love a lot of affection, love, and treats; except for peanut butter, which surprised my foster mother. I do love car rides. My ideal home would be where I am the only dog, and I'm able to go out and walk. My other personality loves being a couch potato. I do not like dog crates. I'm not sure why.. When my foster parents were trying to crate train me, I got one of my front paw pads stuck in the crate door trying to get it open and eventually broke the latch on the door. Since then I have been sleeping in my foster parents bedroom on the floor at night. Ideally, I would like a home where I don't have to crated. I can still use some training, especially while out walking or letting someone know it's time for a bathroom break. Currently, I go out 3-4 times a day. I will not poop in my own yard, although I will while out walking. My foster parents have tried to train me to poop in the yard, but I won't always. I do know how to sit, come, paw, and up, but I sometimes don't want to listen. While walking I know cross means I speed up my walk and cross street. Turn means turn left. Right means turn right and stay on right, I'm still working with this sometimes. Heal I am still working on. I am good with kids, but I would not want a child under age 5 as I may jump up on them or they could hurt me and not mean to.
