Kenna is a lovely 3 1/2 year old Mastiff. She is even-tempered, low energy, not destructive, and loving, loves ice cubes, and her one raw hide chew each day. Kenna lives with me and one cat. She will chase the cat occasionally, but largely ignores him. She also pretty much ignores the dogs who live next door. She does chase the neighborhood cats, squirrels and rabbits who share our yard. Kenna rides well in the car, but is not great on a leash. That is mostly my fault as I am not physically able to walk her. This brings me to the reasons I must reluctantly relinquish her. I have quite serious mobility issues, am extremely unsteady on my feet and must start physical therapy sessions three times per week. Even without the cost of the therapy sessions, my unsteadiness makes it dangerous for me to be around her just because of her size. She weighs 167 pounds. One unexpected, energetic brush up against me could easily knock me over and the osteoporosis makes falling and fracture a real danger The cost of the therapy makes it impossible for me to afford such a large dog. All these reasons combined force me to give her up to someone steadier and with more energy to give her. She would love to live with someone who could not only walk her, but run and play with her. Kenna really has no health issues. The only problem she has is excessive licking. The vets and I have assumed she's allergic to something, but that has yet to be determined. She has been on Apoquel the entire 1 1/2 years I've had her. I also give her benedryl and have tried several herbal remedies. The results have been mixed. She visited the vet earlier this week, and received all her vaccinations. The vet also suggested we try her on an anti-anxiety medication. It's too soon to tell if that will help or not. I hope you will consider giving this sweet girl a loving place in your home. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me. Thank you for considering Miss Kenna.
