About Kaya

Kaya is looking for a foster to adopt family Kaya is a sweet approximately 3 year old Saint Bernard/ Great Pyrenees mix. She was found as a stray, starving and severely underweight, scavenging in a McDonalds parking lot. Her amazing foster mom rescued her and has been helping her get healthy and happy. She is still only around 75 pounds, but is slowly putting on weight. She's a petite gal who will likely top out at 90-100 lbs. She absolutely LOVES people! She seeks attention and enjoys scratches and snuggles. She has been around children (7 and older) and loves them. She has not been around smaller children. She is very intelligent and has learned sit, lay down, stay, and leave it. She has taken to leash training quickly as well. She is almost completely potty trained, but still needs a little more practice when she is home alone. She is a very chill dog and loves to snuggle, eat treats, and go for walks and car rides. As she gets healthier and feels safer, her personality is coming out more and more. She can be silly and playful and loves to give 'doggy hugs.' Just watch her in the kitchen - she is known to check the trash for that last slice of pizza or graze a snack from the kitchen counter. Kaya is still a little wary of other dogs. She is cautious and lacks dog socialization skills, but has potential with other dogs her size with some continued socialization. Ideally one dog who will give her space as she gets to know them is ideal. She was very excited to meet a female golden retriever at our training session. NO small dogs or cats. She is spayed, microchipped, and UTD on vaccines. Kaya is heart worm positive and is currently undergoing slow kill treatment. She is looking for a foster to adopt family willing to help her get healthy and provide the safe and loving home she deserves. Once she is free of the parasites, she can be adopted. We provide for all medical needs during the treatment. She's currently in a foster home in the Nashville TN area. For the right family, Transport within reason can be arranged.
