About Rocky Doo

Location: Elgin, Texas DOB: 05/01/2020 (Estimate) Hey out there! Lemme take a moment to intro'Doo'ce myself. My name is Rocky Doo and I am a man on a mission-to find my furever family. And you could quite possibly be just the kind of humans I've been looking for. Let's get started! First off-I am super 'Doo'per smart. I know a number of commands: Come, Sit, Heel, Down, Place, Load and Away From the Door. I'm housetrained. I am especially good at watching and reading people's body language and I like to please my people. The only thing I ask in return is the opportunity to have a soft place to sit or lay down and those two things may happen to look just like your lap. I am a lovebug but I am respectful when you say that time is up and your legs have fallen asleep. Side note: I have a very real and intense fear of things that go BOOM-thunderstorms, gunshots, fireworks, backfiring cars. I have been known to jump a fence in desperation looking for my person cuz I get so scared. Your loving lap will be a necessity during these times. Daily training and stimulation are good for my busy brain. I enjoy working and being given a job and a great game of fetch is usually on my daily to-'Doo' list if possible. I love to run and would do great with an owner who enjoys jogging. But I am a Dane and I tire easily and will need time to rest and bask in the sun. I enjoy being around other large breed dogs-smaller dogs are iffy. I've been around horses and thought they were kinda cool. But cats and kids are a definite no-can-'Doo'. And slow, controlled introductions to people are appreciated. I can get a little boisterous and bumrush whoever is walking in the door. My foster mom is working hard with me on my manners. Something I need to mention is that I VERY strongly guard my food, including my treats (and sometimes my toys). Rocky Doo will do a Rocky Don't if I feel like my food is going to be eaten by someone else-so much so that there are times I will stand watch over my food and not eat it. My foster mom tried feeding me in my kennel but then I just had a smaller space to guard. She gives me an hour before my bowl gets picked up. I will need to most likely be called away from the space or get distracted so the bowl can be removed. Sometimes the bowl will still be full. I'm pretty good about going into my kennel. Now and again I balk at it but my foster mom will be firm and lead me by my collar to it. If that doesn't work, she will put me on my leash and walk me around the room a bit then lead me in. Sleepy time is most comfortable for me in my kennel. I dream hard, I snore hard and I sleep hard. I really like getting to take a bedtime walk around the block before snuggling in for the night. I walk well on the leash but sometimes I get silly when it's initially time to clip the leash onto my collar. I heard my foster mom say I had 'zero to no recall'. It's okay when I'm in a fenced yard, but this could be problematic if I'm walking at the park and get away from my person. It then becomes a game I like to call 'I Forgot My Name or How to Behave At All Like a Good Dog.' It does not go over well. My forever home needs a strong, skilled-but above all else-loving- alpha human who will lead me not out of fear but with resolve. I need structure and boundaries. If you give me an inch, I'm taking a mile. Humans were not always nice to me in my previous homes.
