About Maggie

Maggie Mae is an estimated 3 year old spayed female who initially came to us as a stray, and she has been treated for heartworms here at BCAS. She was made available for adoption, but has had several instances of being stranger wary here in the shelter. There is no clear pattern of who she is wary of, as it has happened with males and females. What we do know is that she did wonderful in her foster home while she was being medically treated. She did have some instances of stranger wariness in the foster home when meeting new people, but she was absolutely lovely for everyone in the home. Unfortunately Maggie was only approved by the foster's landlord to stay during her medical treatment, so we are seeking a new foster or rescue placement to help Maggie on the next leg of her journey to her furever home. Her previous foster writes: 'Maggie May is the perfect dog for a more relaxed household. She loves to cuddle and will happily join you on couch snuggling as you watch Netflix. She's the perfect work from home buddy as she will come check up on you (after she finishes her multiple naps) and put her head on your knee. She is an incredibly smart dog-during her time in foster, she mastered sit, paw, down, and drop. Maggie May is completely house trained, responds to her name, and she is not destructive. She LOVES squeaky toys and stuffed animals. Maggie loves her people so much that she does get scared of guests that come into the house. An ideal family would help her work through that reactivity and she showed a lot of progress during foster. Overall, Maggie May would be the perfect addition to any family. She is one of the most sweet and calm dogs, and I have loved every second of being her foster mom.'
