About CAPONE

Adoption Fee: $400.00
German Shepherd mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

*** AVAILABLE for adoption after DEC 1st *** **EXPERIENCED BREED OWNERS, ONLY, Please ! ** 'CAPONE' is an incredibly handsome, 1.5 to 2 yr old, 55-60 lb., love bug of a German Shepherd male we rescued from a very high kill pound back in July. Capone was emaciated (15-20 lbs underweight) and also heartworm positive. We successfully treated him with the American Heartworm Associations' recommended 'fast kill', 3-shot protocol, and was found to be 'negative' after recent retest! We also successfully put weight on him over this time and now he looks magnificent ! Capone has that photo perfect Shepherd stance. A confident, athletic breed experienced owner would be optimal for Capone with children over the age of 8 yrs old. CAPONE is a very, very smart boy and highly trainable. He wants 'a job', and does the classic German Shepherd 'pacing', and also requires mental stimulation. Capone is eager to please, and loves deeply and ernestly. Capone wants to be 'top dog' and would be best as an only dog or with a kind, gentle female canine companion. He is very gentle and kind, but if another dog starts barking aggressively at him, Capone will engage. He has acclimated well with other dogs in foster, providing you let it take time and don't force rapid association. Capone LOVES his toys, and gets excited at meal time, but has been trained to sit & wait, which he readily does, and then give the command to 'eat'. He prefers a mixture of both wet and dry food. Capone still can a little rapidly on occasion, so a slow feeder bowl is necessary, but he is not resource guarding/protective over his food or toys. Capone is neutered, de-wormed, is current on vaccinations, on monthly heart worm preventative, crate-trained and house-trained. This rescue does not administer it's own vaccination shots. All of our rescued dogs' medical care has been administered by a licensed Veterinarian. All of our rescued dogs have been on a nutritional regime which includes high quality food and supplements (ex., pro-biotics; vitamins, etc). This is done to bolster their immune systems and overall health; the result benefits their adoptive family with a pooch who has a lustrous coat, bright shiny eyes, and happy and healthy disposition. For an adoption application, please click the email tab on the posting or email directly to [email protected] *** Please note: We are an all-volunteer organization and do not have a facility to visit. All rescues and pounds are getting inundated with daily request to adopt dogs. Please be patient with the process. All our dogs are in foster homes across the region, so pre-qualification via application must happen for a 'meet & greet'. Our adoption process is not '1st come; 1st served' as pounds/shelters are, but based off qualified adopters. Once qualified, we will schedule a meet & greet. We cannot 'hold dogs' through the holidays due to foster home space requirements and overall rescue needs for other dogs in dire need of rescuing.*
